| Report from 2009 MCLC Scientific Workshop Published in Leukemia & Lymphoma |

Proceedings
from the sixth annual Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) Consortium Scientific Workshop,
which included 17 oral presentations, have been published in the March 2010 issue of the
journal Leukemia & Lymphoma. Ordinarily
not available to the public, a copy of this report can be found for one month
on the journal’s Web site.
Presentations were on topics such as biology of MCL,
prognostic markers, new molecular targets, chemoimmunotherapy, transplantation,
cellular therapy and novel therapeutic approaches.
The aim of this workshop, held in March 2009, was to accelerate advances made in the field
of MCL by creating a forum in which to share data, exchange ideas, foster
collaboration within the MCL research community and identify and prioritize
areas of clinical and translational research that will have the largest impact.
“It is gratifying to see our work recognized by a
respected scientific journal such as Leukemia
& Lymphoma. We hope the information published in this report will
further accelerate the understanding of mantle cell lymphoma and encourage
other researchers to seek out collaborative work environments such as LRF’s Mantle
Cell Lymphoma Consortium,” said Michael Williams, MD, MCLC Chairman and
Director, Hematologic Malignancy Program – Hematology/Oncology
Division University of Virginia Health System, Charlottesville.
The next MCL
Scientific Workshop will be held in Atlanta, GA March 24-25, 2010.
